Tanya is named after the Inuit throat singer and author from Cambridge Bay (Iqaluktuuttiaq) in Nunavut Canada, Tanya Tagaq. Tanya has recorded 4 studio albums which she has received awards, including Best Album Design in 2005 for her album Sinaa as well as the Polaris Prize in 2014 for her album Animism. In December of 2016 Tanya was named a Member of the Order of Canada which is a Canadian National Order that is awarded to Canadians with an outstanding level of talent and service and an exceptional contribution to Canada and humanity. Tanya is a mother, a painter and an actress and most recently she has added ‘author’ to her long list of achievements with the recent release of her mythobiography book entitled Split Tooth.
