Waneek is named after the first Mohawk woman to ever compete in the Olympic games, Waneek Horn-Miller from the Mohawk reserve Kahnawake in Quebec, Canada. In 1999 Waneek was on the Canadian women’s water polo team that won a gold medal in the Pan AM Games. Waneek was also present during the Oka Crisis and on the 78th day nearly lost her life due to being stabbed near the heart by a soldier’s bayonet while carrying her sister.
Waneek is a Cool Pink.
